Hey Sis! First off, can we just take a second to celebrate you? 💅 🥂
You’ve taken that brilliant idea, put in the late nights, and officially launched your business right here in Oklahoma. You are a CEO, a founder, and a total boss. But listen, as your sister-in-business and your protective mentor, I’ve got to keep it 100 with you.
Building a legacy is one thing; protecting it is another.
I know, I know. "Insurance" isn't exactly the most glamorous word in your vocabulary. It feels like just another bill, right? But Real Talk: skipping out on the right coverage is like building a gorgeous house on a foundation of sand. One storm, one "slip and fall," or one legal misunderstanding, and everything you’ve worked so hard for could be gone.
Yikes. 😱
But don't panic! I’m here to break down the "boring" stuff into plain English so you can save your pockets and sleep soundly at night. Let’s dive into Oklahoma Business Insurance 101.
The Legal "Must-Haves" (Don't Skip These!)
In the state of Oklahoma, some things aren't just "good ideas": they are the law. If you want to stay in the state's good graces and avoid those nasty $1,000-a-day fines, pay attention.
1. Workers’ Compensation
Hey Girl, did you know that in Oklahoma, if you have even one employee (full-time or part-time), you are generally required to carry Workers’ Comp?
I know, it sounds intense! But if an employee gets hurt on the job, you don't want that medical bill coming out of your pocket. This covers their medical care and lost wages so you can keep the business running without a massive financial hit.
2. Commercial Auto Insurance
Are you using your car to deliver your products? Or maybe you bought a cute van and wrapped it with your logo? 🚐
Listen closely: Your personal auto insurance policy almost always excludes business use. If you get into a fender bender while "on the clock," your personal insurance might say "Sorry, not our problem." Oklahoma law requires a minimum 25/50/25 liability limit for business vehicles. Don't fall for the trap of thinking your personal policy has you covered!

Heart-to-Heart: The Protection You Actually Need
Now that the legal stuff is out of the way, let’s talk about the insurance that keeps the "what ifs" from ruining your life. These might not be "required" by the state, but most landlords and big clients won't even look at you without them.
General Liability (The Big Shield) 🛡️
Imagine a customer is browsing your beautiful OKC boutique and trips over a rug. Or maybe you're a consultant and a client claims your advice "ruined" their project.
General Liability covers:
Bodily Injury: When someone gets hurt on your property.
Property Damage: When you (or your staff) accidentally break something belonging to someone else.
Advertising Injury: Libel, slander, or "borrowing" an idea a bit too closely.
Honestly? It’s the best $40 or $50 a month you’ll ever spend. It's the difference between a minor hiccup and a business-ending lawsuit.

The Business Owner’s Policy (BOP)
If you’re looking to save your pockets, ask about a BOP. This is basically a "bundle deal" where we put your General Liability and your Business Property insurance into one package. It’s usually cheaper than buying them separately, and it covers your equipment, inventory, and office space. Efficiency is queen! 👑
Real Talk: The Notary Advantage
As a business owner, you’re going to be signing a lot of papers. Contracts, leases, legal forms: it never ends! ✍️
Part of protecting your assets is making sure your documents are ironclad and verified. That’s where my Notary & Signing Services come in. Whether it’s a business partnership or a real estate document, having a certified Oklahoma notary ensures everything is legit. It’s just one more layer of protection for your legacy.

Why Work with an Independent Agent?
I’m going to let you in on a little "insider" secret. 🤫
A lot of insurance agents are "captive." That means they work for one company and can only sell you one brand of insurance. If that company raises their rates? Too bad.
I do things differently at Nicole Wright Insurance & Notary Services. I am an independent broker. That means I shop across multiple carriers to find the best fit and the best price for your specific needs. I don’t work for the big insurance companies: I work for you.
I specialize in helping new homeowners and small business owners in Oklahoma City navigate these confusing waters without the stress.
